Anaïs Medina Martín was born in Madrid, Spain. She obtained her degree in Chemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2006. In 2005 she joined the group of Prof. Tomás Torres and started working on the synthesis and characterization of subphthalocyanines. She obtained her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Tomás Torres and Dr. Christian Claessens in April, 2011 for her research on the self-organization and photovoltaic applications of subphthalocyanines. During her PhD studies she joined the groups of Prof. René Janssen at TUE (Eindhoven, The Netherlands, one month), Prof. Atsuhiro Osuka (Kyoto University, Japan, two months) and Prof. George M. Whitesides (Harvard University, Boston, USA, four months). After her PhD she spent a short Postdoctoral period at Prof. Torres group (2011-2012) and then she moved to Edmonton (Alberta, Canada). She worked at the University of Alberta (Canada) with Dr. Derda (2013- 2014) in the differentiation of cancer cells into cancer stem cells. Dr. Martin also joined Dr. John Lewis’ ́research group (University of Alberta) as a PostDoc to study new tobacco mosaic virus-based contrast agents for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer. Anais is currently a Clinical Research Coordinator, with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry – Oncology Dept at the (Univerity of Alberta).
