Research Associate, Dr. Gane Wong Research Group,

Dr. Juan Jovel works as a research associate at the Department of Medicine of the University of Alberta, as part of Gane Wong’s group. His research focuses on application of OMICs and computational approaches to the study of human diseases, including prostate, liver and breast cancer, gastrointestinal diseases and viruses. At present, he is involved in projects concerning genomics and transcriptomics of metastatic prostate cancer determinants, the role of miRNAs on hepatocellular carcinoma, contribution of viruses to pre-terminal lymphoma, and perturbations of the gut microbiome in the context of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, or patients suffering ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease or Clostridium difficile infections, among other topics.
